Community Service

Community Service Programs offer our seniors an opportunity to socialize and support their community.

Peer Assistance Leadership Service is a program provided by Smithson Valley High School students who sponsor a senior night out event at our center, which includes a meal prepared by the PALS and entertainment.

Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is sponsored by Texas Lutheran University. Volunteers serve without pay on a regular basis on a community assignments at libraries, senior centers, social service agencies, nursing homes, schools, and many other non-profit organizations. They visit shut-ins, assist in delivery of meals, and work with children and youth. Volunteers act as office workers, tutors, and volunteer coordinators.

Meals on Wheels program which provides a hot lunch to qualified homebound citizens. Volunteers deliver the meals Monday through Friday, and at the same time provide a wellness check on each recipient.

55-Alive is a defensive driving class for seniors.

Free Income Tax Assistance for seniors and low income families.

BSC assisted Bulverde United Methodist Church Helping Hands Day in locating seniors in need of minor home repairs.

Our center has agreed with the city of Bulverde to serve as the City Emergency Facility for disasters.

Bulverde Food Bank uses our facility for their monthly board meetings. The center also has food drives for this bank.

We provide volunteers to assist the Spotlight Theatre & Arts Group, Etc., Inc. with assembly of their performance programs.

Elf Louise & Bulverde Lions Club is assisted by our members in their annual Christmas Toys for Tots drive.

Our center supports local churches, students, school and probation individuals in need of community service projects.
